Access Statement for “First Light” and “Stag View” Cottages

The Two Detached Cottages are designed for wheelchair users.

Access – Mobility

Stuart and Jane have 28 years of commitment to providing Luxury,
non-clinical Holiday Accommodation for Guests with a wide range of Disabilities. Jane is a retired Nurse and has completed the Welcome All training course. Specialist equipment is available to borrow, by prior arrangement. (A Mobile Hoist, Manual Essy-Turner, Shower- wheelchairs, walker, perch stool and other equipment, just ask).
A Service Dog is very welcome in ‘First Light’ but ‘Stag View’ is Pet and Feather-Free, also a simple ‘Ceiling Hoist Track‘ has now been installed – over the bed – in ‘First Light’.

Parking: A Large level parking area is next to both cottages, which allows Guests side or rear access from and to their vehicle. The Ramp is wide with Handrails, leading to an extra-wide Entrance Door.
Stag View Cottage has the largest Parking area.

Living Area: The well-lit Open Plan Lounge, Dining Room and Kitchen, allows flexibility, inclusion and ample turning space. The Kitchen is well equipped with Accessible Appliances. An extra, wheelchair-height worktop is fitted with a second Lever Tap Sink, extra Induction Hob and a microwave.
The Lounge has an Electric Riser/Recliner chair, with views out of the French Windows. Level Access, through the French Windows, leads to the large veranda which is also accessible from the Entrance Ramp. A an extra upright lounge chair is available, please ask when booking.

Bedrooms: The Twin Room has flexible bed space, wheelchair transfer
and turning area between the beds, and one of the beds in both cottage, is an electric adjustable Hi-Lo profile bed.

The Double Room, next to the house bathroom, has limited transfer space to either side only in ‘First Light’ Please ask Stuart to change the bed-side table with the dressing table to make more room to your required side (they are heavy).

Bathrooms: A large Wet Room, en-suite to the twin-room is designed especially for wheelchair users, with a non-slip floor, WC transfer space, low basin, shower, (adjustable head height) and all necessary grab rails for Access Exceptional specification. Also installed is a Call-system and Emergency light.

The Bathroom in “First Light” has a roll-top-bath and “Stag View” Cottage has a Low, easy step-in-bath and the transfer space to the W.C is the opposite side to the one in the Wet room, (allowing for either sided strokes).

Fire Evacuation and Safety: Clear Information is given on the notice board. An Extra External (Easy Open) Door with Emergency Light is from the twin bedroom.
