‘First Light’ and ‘Stag View’ Cottages

Designed by ourselves, with the aim and objective of creating two luxurious and homely Log-Cottages, where you can enjoy the freedom and relaxation of the countryside, while holidaying on a small working farm.
At the same time, Jane (a retired nurse) and Stuart are committed to ensuring the highest level of wheelchair accessibility to make holidays easier for guests with disabilities.

Arrive at a level screened parking area. The choice of two steps or a gentle wide ramp, lead to the main entrance door or continue round to the spacious veranda to relax. Maybe enjoy a glass of wine or alfresco dining while watching the sun set over panoramic countryside views. You may enjoy watching lambs or cows with calves. Highland ponies, red deer and other wild-life are often seen throughout the year. Some guests come especially for bird-watching and others for the dark night sky.

Mitchelland Farm accomodation

Both cottages have spacious open planned lounges, dining area and very well equipped bespoke kitchens, designed for inclusiveness (or maybe 2 cooks). The second sink and extra induction hob are fitted into another worktop at a lower height, allowing ease of use for an independent wheelchair user. Visit the Gallery for more photos.

Feel pampered in comfortable lounge chairs, (one is an electric riser/recliner) to enjoy the views of the farm and fell through the French windows which also allow level access out to the part-covered veranda.

A good night’s sleep is essential whilst on holiday, and our guests tell us they appreciate the quality beds in both the double and twin bedrooms. The twin room has flexible bed spaces with plenty of room for a wheelchair. One of the beds (in the twin room) is an electric Hi-Lo profile adjustable bed. All  beds are made up for your arrival with duvets. Extra blankets are available in both cottages..

Both cottages have a full house-bathroom with a shower over the bath, but in First Light the bath is a roll-top bath to enjoy or unwind in, and in Stag View, the bathroom has a lower, easy step-in-bath. Also both cottages have a very spacious shower/wet-room, which is en-suite to the twin room, designed for ease of use for wheelchair users. Most of our guests tell us, ‘the shower is the best’. Towels and tea towels are provided.

One mobile Hoist and other equipment is available at no charge, by prior arrangement.
