Access Statement and Plan for
"First Light" & "Stag View" Cottages
The two detached cottages are designed for, and have achieved, the highest Accessibility Scheme, MOBILITY-Access Exceptional.
Stuart and Jane have eleven years' commitment of providing luxury, non-clinical holiday accommodation for guests with the widest range of disabilities. Jane is a retired nurse and has completed the "Welcome All" training course. We can arrange care for your holiday and specialist equipment is available to borrow, by prior arrangement. Service dogs are very welcome in "First Light" but "Stag View" is pet and feather free.
Our brochure is available on yellow paper and further information is available by phone or you may call in to check the facilities suit your needs.
Parking: A large level parking area is next to both cottages, with setting down points, which allows guests side or rear access from their vehicle. The ramp is wide with handrails, leading to an extra-wide entrance door.
Living Area: The well lit open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen allows flexibility, inclusion and ample turning space. The kitchen is well equipped with accessible appliances. An extra wheelchair-height worktop is fitted with a second lever tap sink, induction hob and a microwave. The lounge has an electric riser/recliner chair. Level access via the French windows leads to a large veranda, also accessible from the entrance ramp.
Bedrooms: The twin room has flexible bed space, wheelchair transfer and turning area between the beds, one which is an electric adjustable bed. The double room, next to the bathroom, has transfer space to one side.
Bathrooms: A large wet room, en-suite to bedroom one, is designed for wheelchair users, with non-slip floor, WC transfer space, basin, shower and all necessary grab rails for Access Exceptional specification. The bathroom in "First Light" has a roll-top bath and "Stag View" has a low, easy step-in-bath.
Fire Evacuation and Safety: Clear information is given on the notice board. An extra external door with emergency light is from bedroom one. |
